The success story of this family-owned business began in a small garage in Steinbach in the Main-Spessart district. In 1986, Georg Weidner founded BGW-Bohr GmbH as a one-man operation and set up the first production facility in the garage of his home with limited resources. Before long, he was able to inspire others with his project and recruit employees and temporary workers. The garage quickly became too small, and after moving to Steinfeld, Georg Weidner and his team continued to steadily expand the company over the following years.

Georg Weidner, whose employees describe him as a dynamic founder, first completed an apprenticeship at JOHA, a locksmith and metal fabrication shop in Lohr, and then worked for 10 years at Mannesmann Rexroth in Lohr before deciding to start his own business in 1986. The company’s founder can now look back on an eventful corporate history: “With the goal of becoming one of the best Manufacturers and distributors of innovative built-in components for industrial and commercial construction, the company has been able to continuously evolve.” Thanks to this ongoing development and a constant stream of new ideas, the company’s profile has fundamentally changed over time. Today, this medium-sized company employs over 50 people at its Steinfeld location, each of whom is highly skilled and contributes to the success of BGW-Bohr GmbH.

The Steinfeld Facility

The company, which is now a medium-sized business, currently employs over 50 full-time staff members; as a result, the facility has had to be expanded several times in the past through relocations and new construction. The company’s current premises cover a total area of over 30,000 m², including 8,100 m² of production and warehouse space and 250 m² of office space.

Products and Quality

The product range has also been adapted to meet market demands. Initially, the company primarily produced small parts as a supplier to the mechanical engineering industry. Today, BGW-Bohr GmbH offers its own complete product line of metal components for concrete installation and as supplier parts, primarily for the precast concrete industry. In terms of quality management, BGW-Bohr GmbH is particularly proud of its certification to DIN EN ISO 9002, granted by TÜV Produkt Service in 1996, covering production and assembly.

A Family-Owned Business

Since 2004, both sons of the company’s founder—industrial engineers Jens and Michael Weidner—have been actively involved in the company. They are primarily dedicated to the company’s development and international expansion. Alongside Managing Director Georg Weidner, Michael Weidner has served as the junior managing director at BGW-Bohr GmbH since 2013. Other family members have also supported the company with great dedication for many years. Since 2024, both sons have served as managing directors of BGW Bohr alongside their father, Georg Weidner.

Anniversary and Expansion into New Business Areas

In 2016, BGW-Bohr GmbH celebrated its 30th anniversary and, later that year, acquired the then-bankrupt company Willy Kreutz in Steinfeld, whose main customers were Osram and Philips. Today, the quantity of in-house developed products by BGW-Bohr GmbH on the market is thousands, used in concrete elements such as precast concrete floors, walls, and stairs. With over 500 customers in Germany alone and an extremely high export share, the company serves satisfied customers around the world who are enthusiastic about BGW-Bohr GmbH’s products, quality, and service.
